Inter-club tournaments

Are usually held in the club session mornings, and often followed by lunch, either on our club terrace, located in front of the courts, or at a local restaurant.

One of our main club tournaments is the Kees Memorial Tournament held in November, which is named after a founder member, who still played into his eighties.  The trophy for this tournament is the racquet used by Kees, which is presented by his daughter to the winner of the tournament.

  • We also use this time to reflect and remember any past members who, for whatever reason, are no longer playing at our club.

Local tournaments with other clubs

This gives our members the opportunity to meet and visit with other clubs in the area, and mix socially, often including refreshments or lunch afterward.  These friendly events are intended as fun, and often participants are made-up from our non-league players, who can indicate their preference to play by placing their name on the list once a friendly tournament date has been advised.  Formats vary from mixed doubles pairs, to timed games.

club championship

There will be a new format for the Club Championships in 2008, with a knock-out system, which will take place in the last two weeks of September
Starting on Sat. 13th Sep. and finishing on Sat. 27th Sep.

JITC vs L'Ancora Playa Tournament - Sat. 14th June 2008

An excellent session of tennis was held at La Sella Tennis Club, when a friendly tournament had been arranged against a visiting group from L'Ancora Playa.

Nora Wenli, cleverly mixed and matched the JITC players to give competitive tennis to be enjoyed by all on the sun-dappled courts of La Sella.

The aim was for each individual to total their games at the end of three half hour rounds, to ascertain the winner.  As luck would have it, Paul Banning JITC Chairman was declared the winner.
Barbara Rogers came a close 2nd, with Janis Barber sneaking in to 3rd place also for JITC.

After the games there was time to relax with the refreshments, which was a good conclusion to a very enjoyable late afternoon's tennis.
